![]() Pirates of the Spanish Main from Wizkids was very popular from the first day it came out. We were not sure how it would do, so we conservatively ordered 14 packs, figuring that we could get more if it sold well. It sold well. We sold out the very first day. Then, we discovered that it would take 6 weeks to get more. It was actually October before we finally got a solid supply in, but the game did catch. Unfortunately, Coureton who was the first to get excited about the game was too busy by then to really get involved with it. |

In June we had our first (and last) Store Advisory Council meeting. The idea was that, since Phoenix Games is a community, the community should be involved in running it. One of the big ideas that came out of it was that of removing the dressing room and rearranging the back. In the end, I decided that eliminating the dressing room would not actually save space, but did do a bit of rearranging, and it ended up working quite well. |
|||||||
![]() We moved the mini-kitchen out of the dressing room and into the back hall. Erin was very helpful, cleaning various fixtures as we moved them about. While the dressing room was empty before we moved the computer into it, we had about half a dozen people in there hanging out. For a while, we called it the VIP room. |
![]() Before we rearranged, the computer had been near the back door and the demo game rack backed up to the dressing room. We felt this was ineffective because no one could actually see that there were games there. |
||||||
![]() The boffers neatly arranged in their new storage space. Prior to the rearrange, we had a table in the dressing room make of plywood and cinderblocks. We needed a place to put the cinderblocks, and discovered that they were perfect to hold the boffers in place. It has been a bit tricky to get people to put the boffers back neatly, but they are learning slowly. |

You ever have one of those nights where you were just sitting around playing Ninja Burger when someone decides to take their shirt off. Not wanting to feel left out, others follow. If that hasn't happened to you, then you clearly do not hang out with interesting enough people. |

![]() Ninjaburger is good. |
Ninjaburger without shirts is better.

![]() That is a stack of a dozen World of Darkness Core Books and a dozen Vampire: the Requiem Books. It is the most of any one book that we have ever gotten in at one time, and they all sold in about a week or two. (note: I am proud to say that WOD continues to outsell D20 at Phoenix Games.)
|
![]() Here, we see the remarkably well engineers World of Darkness display that came with the two dozen books. Not only does White Wolf put out a great product, they also make damned good cardboard freestanding displays.
|
![]() In purchasing his World of Darkness books, Zach here because the first customer to take part in our Gamer Bucks program. One could a get one Gamer Buck for every $20 spent. The Bucks could be spent here as well as Frontier Pizza, the Spirit Shoppe, and Tower Theaters. The program ran until the end of the summer when it was replaced with the Frequent Gamer Card.

![]() Allan was good enough to run an excellent oneshot of the new system. All the players thought the game was excellent, although Allan was too tired to actually remember running it.
Allan: I ran a game on Friday?

![]() I have no idea what is going on here.
|
![]() No idea here either. | |

Wrath of the Emperor was the first new Legend of the Five Rings set to come out since we started running L5R here at the store. The event was very well attended and a whole lot of fun. It was a sealed event, so everyone was more or less equal.

||||||
![]() With Coureton's help, we can add "art studio" to the list of things that Phoenix Games can be for you. |
![]() This did not technically happen in the Store, but Cinemark is the theater that we do our movie showings at. Note the top line. |
||||||
![]() The Thursday Night Magic Booster Drafts raged on through the summer. It didn't quite hit the level of attendance it got in the summer of 2003, but it was still very solid numbers. |
