Seventh Time's a Charm
August is notable for two things. One, the Store did a great deal of sales in a month which is traditionally a quiet month. Two, probably as a cause of number one, Board Game Day suddenly took off with a great vengance. This is the seventh iteration of Board Game Day, but this is the first one that has consistantly gotten more than 10 people every week.

As August began, I found that our selection of dice was slightly lacking, so I did a massive order to correct that.

This is Mia with lovely flowers in her hair. I don't remember if there was a good reason for this. Also, you will notice that behind her, the A-frame sign is in the process of being painted. A mere month later it would be ready to go out on the street to start bringing in customers.

It is important to put your beliefs where your mouth is...or at least in your mouth.

It is also important to gaze upon the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

It is very very important to be ready to fight the forces of evil.

Being bathed in holy light from below also helps.
The Great Board Game Day
Board Game Day had been running on sundays for a few weeks with little attendance. I was actually seriously considering canceling it if attendance did not improve. Then, one day, I came in to check on things. Two guys came in and asked how Board Game Day worked. I said, "you come in and say I'd like to play a game." They replied, "we'd like to play a game."

By the time the day was done, we'd had over 25 people through the Store and had used every single table and chair in the Store.

It was not long before we needed to open tables in the main aisle to fit all the games.

When we ran out of tables, we used the floor.

Kiernan teaches Chrononauts to some of the first large group of people who came by.

As if the Store were not crowded enough, I had earlier agreed to let some of my players in my Hackmaster game run their D20 Modern game here that day. They actually fit snugly off in the corner. By the way, never tell a group of 15 year old players that they must complete their mission with no casualties. It just won't happen.

A view from the back of the Store.

Monopoly is a classic. Given enough gamers, someone is bound to like it. Well, someone has to like it, because I certainly don't.

Guess when we run out of chairs you have to share. Sure. That's why Dan is in Jaime's lap.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster was not at Board Game Day, but nearly everyone else was.
